Farm loan banks may pay their own costs
Washington July 16 Senator Reed Smoot introduced a bill to require Federal Farm Loan banks to cover their own administration expenses from available funds. National banks pay their own operating costs and examiner fees, and Smoot argues the Farm Loan banks profit should not justify government appropriations of about 342000 for the Farm Loan Board and related staff. He notes the bill’s referral to the Senate Banking and Currency Committee.
