Killer says genetics influenced behavior
A killer testifies that genetic factors may have shaped their behavior. The statement suggests biology played a role in the course of actions, as the defense seeks to frame culpability through biological predisposition. Attorneys argue the claim reflects underlying genetic influence on decision making.
Wildfire Near Yakima Forcing Evacuations And Spread
About 20 houses were evacuated Sunday in a remote area of south-central Washington as a wildfire spread rapidly in nearby timber near Tampico west of Yakima. The fire had burned 1,200 acres, up from 300 to 500 the day before, officials said. Fire trucks protected evacuated homes while crews monitored expanding flames. In Arizona, rain aided containment efforts on Mount Lemmon where a separate wildfire has destroyed hundreds of homes.

His lawyer says such evidence could sway jurors during sentencing, despite prosecutors noting the brutal 2001 murders by May and accomplice Michael Bourgeois.
