Hackers compromise USA Today site briefly with fake stories
Hackers gained outside access to USA Today Web servers and posted phony articles lampooning newsmakers and religions and falsely claiming an Israeli missile attack. The pages were viewable for about 15 minutes before removal after 10 p.m. Thursday, with site security upgraded for three hours. Separately, a Red Lobster diner who fell ill with salmonella poisoning last month died, health officials said, bringing the confirmed cases to 34 with 34 others pending tests.
