Diallo Place Named On Wheeler Avenue In Bronx

The City Council renamed part of Wheeler Avenue Amadou Diallo Place to honor the shooting victim Amadou Diallo. The 22 year old West African immigrant was killed after police fired 41 shots as he reached for his wallet. the officers were acquitted of murder and related charges.

Director Demme to receive Maine film festival award

Director Jonathan Demme, 58, will be honored with a midlife achievement award at the fifth annual Maine International Film Festival in Waterville. Pornographer Al Goldstein Arrested in Harassment Probe

New York publisher Al Goldstein was arrested on suspicion of aggravated harassment after police say he published a mock wanted poster of his wife and her work number at a private Upper East Side elementary school. His ex-wife reported receiving 13 calls after the poster appeared. He previously faced a May sentence of 60 days for harassing a former secretary with obscene remarks on his TV show.

Jeffrey Campbell of Kalamazoo sues Jerry Springer Show alleging the May 2000 episode created a mood that led to Nancy Campbell-Panitz’s murder by her ex-husband, Ralf Panitz.
