Man Struck by Train After Car Collision in City
S. E. Perkins 84 of 1200 Pennsylvania Street was severely shaken and bruised when his Model A Ford coupe collided with a Santa Fe freight train at the foot of Eighth Street near the Poehler Mercantile building. The train had backed onto the main line after switching. The caboose struck the car, throwing it about 100 feet. Railroad men warned Perkins but he did not hear. The car was completely demolished.

Farm Home Destroyed in Sudden Early Morning Fire
A two story six room farm house on Route 6 south of town was destroyed by a Sunday dawn fire discovered about 4 am. Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Schellhorn escaped via a porch roof. Schellhorn jumped and Mrs Schellhorn used a ladder to reach ground. Only a small porch couch survived. all furniture, clothes, shoes, and money were lost. Insurance partially covers the loss. The fire, likely from defective wiring on a screened porch, left the couple living in their barn garage.
