Kansas Gov Brownback defends abortion board pick

The Kansas governor faced criticism for appointing Richard Macias, an attorney who has represented anti abortion protesters, to the State Board of Healing Arts. Kansas Obesity Rate Surges to 29 Percent

Kansas sees adult obesity at 29 percent, more than doubling in 15 years. The state rises to 16th nationally in growth since 1995, as Trust for America’s Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation urge better access to healthy foods and exercise to curb the rise. Highway 24 40 accident claims Tonganoxie student life

A Tonganoxie High School student, Kylee Nicole Wilson, 16, died in a Thursday rollover on U S 24 40 near 150th Street Basehor. Passenger Hayle Sparks, 14, was hospitalized with non life threatening injuries. Other occupants Jacob Lynch 17 and Samuel Cook 15 were not injured. investigators said Wilson lost control, swerved about 500 feet before leaving the road.
