Borah Statement Gratif ies Leaders In Campaign
Washington July 7 Senator Borah said he has no intention of bolting the Republican ticket. Governor Landon of Kansas welcomed the move and prepared for conferences with Republican leaders before his nomination acceptance. Borah’s Boise speech had hinted at opposition but showed support for the platform and not a split. Party leaders in both camps moved to crystallize plans as Farley and Roosevelt talked over campaign roles and start dates. Snell warned that government spending and the large deficit would dominate the race as Coughlin issued a National Union for Social Justice statement.
