Topeka Kansas July 6 The Kansas legislative council moved quickly to speed action on a constitutional amendment to allow Kansas to participate in the federal social security program Senator McDonald objected but then withdrew his objection saying he would wait until the actual session opens House and Senate judiciary committees were ordered to meet and agree on the form of changes The plan is to have bills ready as committee measures when the legislature reconvenes The council chair said changes would be needed and the amendment may be divided for separate votes on unemployment compensation and aid for the needy Governor Landon met leaders and planned to address a joint session tomorrow on social security The opposition was acknowledged by Landon who suggested differences of opinion exist The two houses must approve by two thirds with no gubernatorial signature required National leaders will meet Landon before the joint session Tuesday Haberdashers: Hamilton to speak in Missouri August 14 Sedalia rally announced by Grover Dalton

Hopper Dozer Aids Farmers In Combating Hoppers
County agent Deal Six builds a hopper dozer tested on alfalfa. The device, a kerosene oil vat on runners, drags through fields to drown grass hoppers.
