Stop to Think on Buy-at-Home Campaigns
Edson R Waite argues that buy at home campaigns fail when home means only the town and not the nation. Consumers buy away from home due to foreign advertising, while local merchants must advertise and show wares to reach customers. Consistent advertising of sound merchandise in the home town newspaper boosts home trade more than protests or rhetoric. The Lyons city council cut pool hall licenses from 250 to 250 every two years.
