Lincoln assassination era flag found at Connecticut Historical Society
The 6 foot silk regimental flag with 13 stripes, 35 stars and painted eagle, once hung beside Lincoln the night of April 14 1865 in Ford's Theatre box, was authenticated by Civil War experts and put on display three years after its discovery. It may have influenced Booth's action or tripping his spur during the leap to Lincoln’s balcony.
