The Venice Film Festival will honor 81 year old French director Eric Rohmer with its Golden Lion for career achievement. The ceremony on September 7 will feature a screening of Rohmer's latest work Analaise et le Duc. Rohmer, famed for My Night at Maud's, has directed about 40 films and remains a staunch independent of market trends. The festival runs August 29 to September 8.
