Boathouse Collapse Kills Three During Lake Outing

In Ragland Alabama a partially finished boathouse on Neely Henry Lake collapsed during a storm killing a 29 year old woman, her four year old niece, and the girl's eight year old half brother. An aunt died from asphyxiation on the debris. Two children and their aunt were among the dead. Three adults were injured, none seriously. A husband escaped unharmed after the collapse. The incident occurred as eight relatives rode a pontoon boat and sought shelter in the dockside structure that was under construction and lacking attached siding. The cause was suspected to be unsecured siding on a three quarters finished frame.
