Drafted men bill seeks government support during service
Washington July 6 a new draft rights bill was proposed by Rep Dwight Rogers to aid men drafted into the armed forces. The plan would let the government cover life insurance rents mortgages and send aid directly to landlords mortgage holders and insurers during service and for six months after discharge with a repayable loan. The bill aims to prevent loss of insurance housing and income streams as the war situation worsens. The measure echoes a postwar GI policy approach and follows Rogers prior GI term pay legislation.
