Kansas basketball figure Bill Self and Lawrence school district official Anna Stubblefield plan to rappel from Lawrence seven-story 888 Lofts on August 25 in the Boys & Girls Club Over the Edge Global fundraiser. Each commits to raising at least 1000 dollars from supporters before the stunt.
Lawrence Public Schools veteran Stubblefield and Oklahoma City native Self join Boys & Girls Club supporters to rappel down a building in August to raise funds. Both pledge to meet a $1,000 per participant goal while highlighting the Lawrence club’s mission and community involvement. Alissa Bauer notes growing interest as Stubblefield, recently interim superintendent, pushes the cause.
Rural Douglas County residents in floodplains will see a 15 percent reduction in flood insurance premiums after FEMA upgraded the county CRS rating from 8 to 7 in late 2017. Outside floodplains retain a 5 percent discount.
