Sony PCV RX490TV blends TV with PC for digital video
Sony's PCV RX490TV adds Giga Pocket DVR to a minitower, letting users record from cable or DVD to an 80GB hard drive and burn to DVD. While it echoes TiVo style recording, the $2,600 price without a monitor makes it pricey against stand-alone PVRs. Other firms like Compaq and Apple offer similar copy features, raising piracy concerns and questioning practicality of 100 hours on disk and Internet uploading.
