In record time three fourths of states ratified Amendment 26 granting voting rights at 18 to 21 year olds. Ohio's 81 9 vote made it the 38th ratification, five months faster than prior amendments. President Nixon urged eligible youths to register and vote.
Ralph H. White 20 of Wichita and Norman Oklahoma received parole after 20 days of a 90 day sentence for misdemeanor property destruction stemming from May 6 1970 damage to the KU Military Science building windows valued at 1925 dollars. Randolph Gould 22 of 1028 Ohio also paroled after 30 days of a 90 day term.
Ethyl executive Arthur H. Zeitz warns that a single misfiring spark plug can nullify pollution control devices. He cites pre 1968 cars with unregulated exhaust and careless maintenance as major pollution causes and questions lead pollution claims, noting most gasolines contain lead yet removal would barely cut pollution.
