Body Found On Sandia Peak Reveals Medill McCormick Death
Searchers and U S forest workers discovered the body of 21 year old Medill McCormick on a cliff near Sandia peak New Mexico after an eight day hunt. The finding ends a long rescue for his family led by Mrs Ruth Hanna McCormick Simms. A wallet and clothing near the scene identified the victim with confirmation from officials. The body lay on a narrow shelf 250 feet from the top of the peak near where his climbing companion Whitmer perished last week. Experts said lightning could have propelled both youths from the knife edged crest.
