Federal deficit to hit record $1.5 trillion in coming year

A Danish study of 365,550 teens and women from 1995 to 2007 shows abortion does not raise mental health illness risk, while childbirth has a stronger link to postpartum mood issues. Researchers tracked prior and post care using national registries.

Vinland airport rezoning sought for McFarlane Aviation site

The Vinland airport near Lawrence is the target of a zoning request to permit a 20,000 square foot warehouse and production plant for McFarlane Aviation Products on 41 acres. McFarlane, based since 1979 at 694 E1700 Road, has grown to 38 full time employees since starting manufacturing in 1988. The plan awaits approval from the Lawrence-Douglas County Planning Commission and the Douglas County Commission.

Kansas University denies harassment claims by former associate provost

Lawrence cannon replica plan could fire again for Kansas Day

Lawrence native Kerry Altenbernd aims to recreate an exact replica of the Old Sacramento cannon that fired at the Free State Hotel during the sacking of Lawrence. The original rests damaged in the Watkins Community Museum, and a replica would be used for Kansas Day events, parades, and reenactments.
