City commissioners unanimously accept AB Bradley of Shawnee’s 1.4 million bid to add a 2,000 square foot expansion to the century old Carnegie Library at Ninth and Vermont. The project includes offices for the Lawrence Convention and Visitors Bureau and Freedom’s Frontier National Heritage Area plus more classrooms and event space for Parks and Recreation. The work should finish by late summer or early fall and earlier in the day officials closed on the West Lawrence Labs building purchase.
