A Stitch in Time Exhibition Explores Family Textiles
Stitch Culled from the Douglas County Historical Society collection features quilts clothing and textiles photographs and antique sewing machines. Keegan who began work on the exhibit early last month notes quilts and afghans held attic stories showing how sewing kept families moving forward. The show includes a family quilt from the Great Depression era and a circa late 1940s or early 1950s Women's softball team photo sponsored by Singer Sewing Machines. A Stitch in Time runs through April 11 at the Watkins Museum with viewers invited to see how sewing socializes communities.
