Louis Cote Ends His Job As Santa Fe Ticket Agent
Louis H. Cote of Route 2 worker at the Lawrence Santa Fe depot since May 1923 sold his last train ticket Friday afternoon. At 5 p.m. he began plans for a new claim clerk job and retirement next summer after his 71st birthday June 21. He recalls the old two story depot and describes earlier steam era trains and diners. He has sold tickets to four KU chancellors and plans to travel the United States with his wife Lillian after retirement.
