KU students stood in long lines from 4 a.m. for free but limited tickets to President Barack Obama’s Thursday speech at Anschutz Sports Pavilion. The campus allotment sold out shortly after 12:30 p.m. as students, faculty and staff rushed to secure a spot in the audience.
President Barack Obama urged expanded public funding for higher education in his State of the Union address and outlined plans to offer two free years of community college for eligible students, widen college tuition tax credits, and ease student loan payments as he prepares to speak at Kansas University.
