Coalition seeks more Arkansas River access points in Kansas

A coalition of conservation groups and local governments with a state agency plans to create public access along 120 miles of the Arkansas River in south central Kansas. The Arkansas River Corridor Access Plan aims to place access about every five miles from Reno Rice counties to near Oxford, with parking, ramps, restrooms, playgrounds and camping areas. Landowner concerns about trespass and vandalism are noted, but supporters say the project benefits the region beyond canoeists.
