Former Kansas senator West dies after long illness
Former state Sen. Tom West, 49, died Sunday in Topeka after a lengthy illness. He resigned from the Senate in 1973 due to health reasons and had 24 years with the Topeka school system. Enrollment rises at Kansas School of Religion amid campus expansion
The Kansas School of Religion reports a three percent rise in religion class registrations this year with 382 students enrolled this spring. Master of Arts in Religion applications jumped twenty percent year over year. Construction began February 1973 and phases move equipment from Fowler to Learned. Third floor Flint Hall classrooms will host Journalism School this term, while Strong Hall’s third floor auditorium was remodeled with new seating and AV gear. Chalk boards pending delivery, the auditorium now has a wide screen and varied lighting and AV options. The space is booked 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mon, Wed, Fri and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tue, Thu, serving art history, biology, mathematics and liberal arts courses.
