Plans Held for Labor Relief and Quarry Work
Two relief plans were approved by the Community Service Committee at the Hotel Wood. A $1,500 federal relief fund will fund labor on rock quarries for bad weather days, with $1,000 allotted for labor and a cost-sharing arrangement between city and county. Workers receive $1.50 for an eight hour day. Also approved: a $500 labor budget and $150 for materials and supervision for a new Central park lake with benches and paths, plus plans for a future wading pool in Southark and perhaps North Lawrence. Farm mortgaged lands sell at auction near Shelby Neb
Five hundred farmers gathered at the Henry McGimpsey farm as James McGimpsey bought the mortgaged property for $49.50 from a Rising City bank which held the loan for $4100.
