Four Evening School Classes To Be Held In Lawrence
Four evening classes will run over six weeks at Lawrence schools. Ralph Graber, Lawrence evening school director, announced after enrollments at Lawrence High School. Courses include yard writing, mechanical drawing, architectural drawing for men, sewing and home decoration for women. Enrollment starts at 7:00 p.m. tomorrow at the Senior High. A $2 enrollment fee is charged and returned if at least three fourths of classes are attended. A plumbing class may start later in the month. Police seize overloaded sedan and arrest four men
City police in the 600 block on Massachusetts street seized an overloaded Rickenbacker with four men, seventeen automobile tires, three tubes and nine gallons of alleged intoxicating liquor. Paul II Compton and Elwood Compton with Glenn and Fred Brown were arrested and turned over to county authorities. Liquor was said to be purchased in Kansas City, with five gallons at seven dollars per gallon and four gallons at a quarter more. Police checked ownership as the men claimed the cars and liquor were bought in Kansas City. The roundup involved the entire night and included inspection of multiple cars and tires.

Majestic Docking Brings Tragic Wave During Crossing
New York January 16 AP a deadly wave swept the Majestic as it docked killing one cook and injuring several crewmen. The eight foot swell flooded the forecastle trapping sailors and breaking doors while cargo was damaged. One assistant cook, Leonardo Fiorini aged 64, died after being hurled against a stanchion.
