Plans for three new buildings at Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds
Ray Ogden, chairman of the County Commissioners, announced plans to build three structures at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds before the August fair. The site lies one quarter mile north of the Jayhawk Driving range, on a 4-acre tract off East Nineteenth Street. The project, funded by a two-year tax levy totaling about 90,000 dollars, includes a home economics and meeting hall and two cattle sheds. Armco will supply an all steel structure for the home economics building, with a cement floor and brick entrance, estimated total around 310,000 dollars. The building will be heatable, sectionable, and maintenance-free, arriving in two months.
