One of Warren Street Baptist Church’s largest funerals held this afternoon honored Mrs Harriet Carter and her son John S T Carter. Mrs Carter had served in elite city homes and was highly regarded. John Carter long served as a Kamass City janitor and was well liked. Mrs Carter died in Lawrence just 24 hours after John’s death in St Joseph. Interment followed at Oak Hill cemetery.
Dr F M Mahbie plans to quit Worden after two years to practice in Arkansas City seeking a larger field and less travel. He taught in Ottawa before medical studies, began practice at Worden with notable success, and is described as a capable young man ready to make his mark in a bigger place.

Mrs Bessie Hollister wife of prominent printer Frank I. Hollister was strangled with a wire and dumped on a pile of refuse behind 363 Belden Avenue. The weapon left a deep wound, and no clue to the killer was found as police, aided by Hikes todo and Gallagher, combed the dark alleys.
