Amateur Athletes Face Fight Over Governing Bodies
The NCAA and AAU move toward a major clash this indoors season over control of amateur athletics. The 59th NCAA convention in Chicago is unlikely to ease disputes with policy amendments that could impose penalties for violations and threaten boycotts. The AAU retains international sanctioning power through IAAF recognition, limiting Olympic participation.
