Hawk Link program aids Kansas minority students adjust and excel
Sara Anees credits KU Office of Multicultural Affairs Hawk Link with guiding her from a lone freshman to a senior who graduates in May with a journalism degree and French minor. The program offers a semester orientation and seminars on first generation and minority college adjustment, using admissions and financial aid data to recruit students early and build supportive peer ties. Anees says the initiative fostered relationships that helped her manage coursework and stay engaged, shaping her path toward law school and CSR work.
