Lawrence Police Department reports that 2003 was a deadly year with multiple homicides. Earlier years before 2003 lack available statistics.
Lawrence recorded six homicides in 2014, the highest rate in at least 11 years, with four prosecutions for first degree murder. Since July 17, 2013, nine total homicides have occurred, and prior to that month there had been about five years without one. The review details the six cases that year, starting with January 17 when Harold M. Lasko was found dead in his home and room mate Sarah Gonzales McLinn was involved.
