Frerett Johnson of Lawrence was convicted in district court for possessing and transporting liquor after a 2:50 PM to 4:55 PM jury verdict. Howard’s charges were dismissed. Benson Named USC Journalism Professor Next September
Ivan Benson assistant professor in the University of California journalism department has been appointed to the same post in the University of Southern California School of Journalism in Los Angeles. He will assume duties next September after receiving notice from the California school board. Benson, a Stanford graduate, has done newspaper work in Minneapolis and Spokane and will work with Roy L. French, former Sigma Delta Chi leader, who attended the national convention last November.

Truck Into River At Bowersock Dam Spillway
Lonnie P. Arnett of 909 Rhode Island Street narrowly escaped drowning when the Ford dump truck he drove rolled back over a pile of dumped dirt into the river at the north end of the Bowersock dam spillway. He freed himself from the sinking truck and swam to shore aided by a seat cushion. The water there is about twenty feet deep. the truck was pulled from the river by a team of mules after surfacing with hooks.
