Army general duped Johnson with staged farewell for faux troops

In 1968 at Ft. Bragg amid the Tet crisis, Brig. Gen. Donald Blackburn organized a fake farewell to honor troops Johnson believed were bound for Vietnam. Real 82nd Airborne soldiers were later found at a beer bash, and the next battalion prepared to depart. The Army confirmed the essential facts.

Kansas House OKs up to 50 Million in Student Loan Bonds

The Kansas House approves a bill to issue up to 50 million dollars in revenue bonds for student loans with repayment starting 90 days after college. Regulation change hearing set in Douglas County

The Douglas County Commission will consider a text amendment to zoning rules at 10 a.m. March 10 in the commission chambers. The Planning Commission backed the proposal requiring unanimous county approval if 80 percent of adjacent property owners petition. The previous 20 percent landowner rule was struck down in court for not being codified.
