Chicago February 27 AP Al Capone convicted of contempt of federal court and sentenced to six months in county jail. Judge Wilkerson ruled an affidavit claiming he was ill and bedridden was glaringly false and hindered justice. Capone had failed to answer a 1929 federal grand jury summons and had claimed illness from Miami. He appeared under guard, avoided media, and prepared an appeal while bond remained at 5000 dollars.

Three armed men masked and one period, robbed First National Bank of about 5000 dollars in silver and currency at Leroy Kansas around 9 30 this morning. They forced employees and customers to floor, opened the safe, and fled west in a car with George Sims the assistant cashier who was later released. County officers and Coffey county vigilantes pursued the suspected bandit car. The bank had not been robbed before.
