FAVORS BANK BILL In Kansas House approves capital requirement
In Topeka on February 26 the Kansas House in committee of the whole backed a bill to require new state banks to hold at least 15 000 dollars in capital stock. The measure, already passed by the Senate, sets 25 000 for second class cities and 50 000 for first class cities, while a prior 25 000 minimum was defeated. Knight argues 10 000 capital banks can be stronger and warns the bill would centralize power in larger cities. The House took no action on a licensing bill for insurance agents.
