Kansas University students voted 2 295 in favor and 148 against to approve the new governance code by a margin near 17 to 1. The measure now awaits final approval from the Kansas Board of Regents as faculty already endorsed it.
Kansas legislators will visit Lawrence on October 11 to coincide with the 1969 Kansas Kansas State football game. Rep. John Vogel Rep. Morris Kay and Sen. Reynolds Shultz inform colleagues of the rescheduled event with a morning program and a KU Union buffet luncheon hosted by KU Chancellor Dr. Laurence Chalmers before the game.
Deputies impounded a car left after a U S 56 accident about 1 30 a m near the U S 59 junction. No serious injuries reported. Vehicle owned by John A Malloy of Topeka. Damage to car 125 dollars and to a fence 25 dollars. Investigation continues. Lawrence police logged two intersection crashes with costly damage.

Asst Supt Robert Ramsey expects repairs by Monday. officials attempted to replace a bead motor but had no success. Former Vice President Hubert Humphrey traveled home in a Presidential 707 jet, thanks to Richard Nixon, who offered first class travel after defeating Humphrey for the presidency. The trip covered 1030 miles in about two hours and twenty minutes, with roses awaiting him in the VIP section.

Donna Hornberger reported a sterling silver service valued at $1,000 stolen from her home at 1614 E 18th St between December 25 and January 13. police noted the missing items and the time of the report was about 2 30 pm Thursday. A separate shoplifting incident at Petersons Liquor Store involved five youths stealing liquor valued at $17 87.
In Paris, U S and South Vietnamese negotiators report cautious progress after Friday's weekly session. Ambassador Henry Cabot Lodge says common ground is near the edge needed to start a settlement.
A pickup backed into a gasoline pump at the Apco Oil Co. station run by Bill Edmonds at South and Iowa Streets at 6 38 p m Thursday. Firemen report a minor blaze extinguished before trucks arrived with $50 damage. driver’s name not learned. Firemen also responded to a noon call at 1527 W 6th Ct with no serious damage. The rest discusses North Vietnamese talks and U S troop withdrawal dynamics in Vietnam negotiations.
Harvard University will withdraw academic credit for ROTC at Harvard while seeking to keep ROTC as an extracurricular program. The move follows a Feb. 4 Faculty vote and was announced by President Nathan M. Pusey, with plans to negotiate a new arrangement with military services.
The Labor and Industry Committee approved a Right to Work bill 10 to 6, sending it to the full House.
