In Chicago a dead policy wheel operator named Lawrence Wakefield left a hidden fortune behind. Police counted 763223.30 in cash plus 18825 in government bonds and seven firearms after a 18 hour search led by Patrolman William J. Childs. Mrs Rose Kennedy, Wakefield’s companion, aided in the elaborate seizure.

Early-Morning Blaze Damages Rural House
An early morning fire east of Lawrence damaged the roof and one room of a house off K-10. The Co op Chemicals Plant area home is owned by Art Oatman and occupied by the Jack Beerbower family. A defective flue was blamed. a guard notified the alarm. A similar blaze occurred about a year ago on Feb 26, 1963. No damage estimate is available.
