General Frederick Funston Dead at 55
General Frederick Funston, 55, commander of the Southern Department since February 1915, died suddenly after dinner at the St Anthony hotel in San Antonio. He collapsed while seated in the hotel lobby, death immediate. Funeral arrangements await arrival of Major General Pershing. Mrs Funston and three children are in San Francisco. The War Department said he had suffered angina sclerosis and had recently recovered from indigestion. President Wilson and military officials expressed regret. burial planned at the National Cemetery, Presidio, San Francisco. His mother in Emporia may not attend the funeral.

Bond Sought In Larned Wife Murder Case

Saw Cuts Off Fingers At Lawrence Farm
George Bigsby of the California road west of Lawrence severed three fingers while sawing wood with a power saw on his farm. His hand slipped, the two middle fingers and the little finger were injured. Dr. H. T. Jones treated the wound, and Bigsby spent a comfortable night at Simmons Hospital before going to his sister Mrs. Charles Crowder’s home in Lawrence.

Death of Henry Holyfield Fifteen Year Old Boy Dies
Henry Hubert Holyfield, son of City Commissioner W. W. Holyfield, died this morning at 482 Elm Street. He was fifteen and had suffered illness for years.
