House Conservation and Credit subcommittee approved funding for the Lower Wakarusa Watershed project. The bill authorizes 1 082 400 dollars in federal money toward a 1 613 700 dollar total cost. Project covers about 95 000 acres with seven floodwater retarding structures, one multi purpose structure and 1 8 miles of floodway to reduce flood damage and benefit Lawrence Topeka and nearby areas.
