CASES plan to store summer heat for winter use
Johns Hopkins researcher W Richard Powell proposes CASES a cooperative energy bank using aquifers to store warm water in summer and cold water for cooling in summer. Heat pumps extract heat in winter and return cooled water for next cycle. Estimated annual heating costs could drop up to 80 percent with lower total power investment.
