A 24-year-old Wichita man admitted killing John C. Watkins, 62, of Hutchinson, under instructions from Glen Davis, deputy sheriff, who linked the motive to a drug ring operating from Amarillo. Four other Wichita men were held. two others released after questioning. Watkins, delivery man for smuggled drugs, had ties to the ring, and McBride claimed he killed to collect owed money.
