Dusenberry oversees a youth club opened in 1972 where supervision remains discreet as boys mingle in activities from pool and Foosball to basketball and ceramics. He notes most kids adapt well, with brief disputes managed and opportunities to try new crafts and games, claiming the program does “an awful lot.”
Whitey Herzog, manager of the Kansas City Royals, will speak at the Boys' Club of Lawrence second annual awards banquet. The event is set for 6 30 p m February 26 in the Kansas Union Ballroom with a buffet dinner preceding his talk.
Kansas Governor Robert Bennett told a 150 person Kansas University Law School crowd that he favors Ford's national government experience and middle of the road appeal. Arthur Heck chairman of the Douglas County Commission announces he will not run again after 1g years on the board. He cites health and family reasons while noting interest in this year’s race and plans to remain semi retired in farming and community work. Stoneback also will not seek re election.
Clinton Township resident Dean Stoneback asks the Douglas County Commission to redraw township boundaries to place him in neighboring Wakarusa area across the Clinton Reservoir. He cites disruption to fire protection and residency on the northeast side. The commission hasn't acted but hints the change could be granted after discussions with local officials.
