Death Sentence Upheld for Nebraska Bank Robber Pope
The U S Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit upheld the conviction and death sentence of Duane Earle Pope for the 1965 Farmers State Bank robbery in Big Springs Nebraska that killed three employees and wounded another. Judge Blackmun wrote the opinion and Judge Lay suggested clemency review. Pope argued his confessions were involuntary but the court found them given with proper rights advisement.

Boy Struck by Car Injures 8-Year-Old in Eudora
