Freezing Mist Sends Bus Off Road in County
Freezing mist and rain caused numerous minor accidents this morning with no serious injuries reported. A Lawrence School District 497 bus owned by R W Harmon and Sons slid off the road south of Wakarusa School after unloading students. no damage occurred per Harold Milligan of Harmon Co. Road crews spread sand and gravel to reduce slides and deliveries on other school routes were slowed but not seriously disrupted.

President Ford Visits Topeka As Local Students Observe
Thousands of schoolchildren welcomed President Ford with few from Lawrence High School participating. LHS officials said no organized groups planned attendance and only a handful were excused from classes to view the visit on television. In a separate matter, Kansas University's Follow Through charges were delayed due to County Attorney David Berkowitz illness. he had planned to file today.
