Seine Rising as Paris Floods Eight Inches in Day

Paris reports the Seine up seven and a half inches in twenty four hours with another rise forecast by noon tomorrow. Premier Briand says precautions are sufficient and no alarm. The New York Chamber of Commerce sends a further relief donation of forty thousand dollars. Government relief loans up to one thousand dollars may be offered for five years.

Free eggs offered by college spur nationwide response

Kansas State Agricultural College Poultry Department offered free pure bred eggs to farmers to boost starting stock and identify interested growers. About 500 inquiries daily flooded in from Kansas and neighboring states with letters and post cards. Six clerks handled the barrage as the department sent 2,500 replies outlining conditions: keep fertility records and furnish one chick per four raised by September 1. Eggs to be shipped February 15.
