Lower fat diet shows no overall cancer or heart benefit for older women
A government study of 48,835 postmenopausal women, average age 62, found eight years of lower fat intake plus more fruits and grains did not reduce breast or colon cancer rates or heart disease versus those who did not change eating. Dieters may have started too late and cut fat insufficiently, researchers say.
