Heavy fighting reported in Vietnam. Viet troops kill 85
South Vietnam's military command said 85 North Vietnamese soldiers were killed in heavy clashes near Duc Duc district 25 miles south of Da Nang. Seven ARVN and four Viet Cong were killed near Phu Cuong City. A Viet Cong mine hit a civilian bus and a military truck in the Mekong Delta, killing 11 and wounding others.

KC man faces charge for second death
A 39 year old Kansas City Kansas man Harry F Duncan already charged with the slaying of an unidentified woman near Bonner Springs in Leavenworth County now faces a second murder charge in Johnson County. The unidentified body found near Wilder in northern Johnson County on June 18 1974 prompted the new charge. Duncan was arrested January 19 by Kansas City police after skeletal remains were found in a field and later evaluated at the State Security Hospital at Larned for sixty days of psychiatric examination.

Military commissary subsidies cut in half this October
