Former President Richard Nixon and his wife plan a private trip to China starting February 21, on the fourth anniversary of their first visit. U N Ambassador Moynihan scolded Soviet counterpart Jacob Malik for using threatening language during a Security Council debate on Angola and Comoros. Moynihan, in his final month before returning to Harvard, insisted the United States is not intimidated and dismissed Malik’s remarks as fabrications.
Lawrence City Clerk Vera Mercer has been designated a Certified Municipal Clerk by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. She is among 14 Kansas clerks certified, and has served as city clerk since 1966 after roles as Labette County Clerk and Treasurer.
