Topeka Feb 7 the Kansas house of representatives passed the first postage and allowance appropriation of the current session after brief by pass of emergency measures. Other measures authorized governor car purchase and delegation to uniform state laws conference and a city court matter. Five new bills were introduced. Two dissents arose over postage funds with Rep Hugh L Hook and Rep Ernest E Woods opposing. A separate irrigation bill seeks majority land owner approval and allows signature withdrawal only for fraud or error. A service officer bill would fund veteran services via a one mill tax.
Three bills aim to boost local governance. First, require publication of changes in assessment by county boards of equalization led by Rey Robinson of Shawnee County. Fort Smith Ark Feb - Fore st fires along the Arkansas Oklahoma border yesterday burned an estimated 15000 acres or more of timberland. The Poteau mountain blaze across the state line in Oklahoma was halted by over 100 volunteer firefighters around 3 am. A separate 100 acre fire on Sugar Loaf mountain in Arkansas was smothered. Firefighters used shovels back fires and wet sacks amid high winds. No farms or live stock were reported damaged.

The government reported October income of 2,002,551 from selling 320 surplus naval vessels and related assets. Since June, total realized from vessel sales reaches 38,594,699, with gains from other maritime assets contributing to the overall surplus revenue.
