The Energy Department reports a fall in U S crude oil supplies for two weeks running, down 1.1 percent to 423.6 million barrels, about 4.72 million barrels lower than the prior week. Prices may rise as stocks drop, with U S crude up roughly 60 percent this year. Home price growth is expected to slow but continue rising next year.

Judge Stacey Dono van may order Hess to consecutive sentences for the two counts, potentially totaling 64 months. The sentencing is set for February 22. The case traces abuse beginning in 2014 when the victim was about 14, with over 50 reported mistreatment incidents across 14 months. The victim, once viewed Hess as a mentor, described wakeful and asleep state abuses and later provided police with messages and a recorded call in which Hess admitted mistreatment. Hess, a self employed tattoo artist, was arrested in 2019 after posting bond.
